Our focus

At Humboldt Dog Training, our focus is helping you create the best-trained and most reliable dog you’ve ever had.

The problem

A lot of dogs know what “sit” or ‘stay” means in practice.

Unfortunately that doesn’t always help when the doorbell rings, another dog walks by, or something unexpected happens.

In fact, it’s not even that your dog being stubborn or difficult.

It’s just a gap between what they’ve practiced and what real life asks of them.

Our approach

We do teach obedience. That matters and more importantly - in a way that matters

it’s built into a larger process that helps your dog learn how to settle, think, and make better decisions.

The goal isn’t to manage your dog all day or keep repeating commands.

The goal is a dog who starts making the right choices on their own, even when things aren’t perfect.

Everything we do is meant to be straightforward and repeatable, so you’re not guessing at what to do next.

Although obedience training is important, it’s not so much what you teach your dog; it’s what you don’t let them practice that truly matters.

People who want:

A well trained dog that’s easier to live with day to day

A dog that listens outside and in the midst of distractions, not just inside

A confident responsive dog when in public or around distractions

Less micromanaging

A dog that actually internalizes how to behave

Who is this for

The outcome

Our work creates dogs who respond when it truly matters, without hyper vigilance, avoidance, or micromanagement.
